Litigation Services
-
I act as counsel in appeals before courts at all levels in British Columbia and Ontario, including in appeals involving complex or unsettled questions of law. My approach combines thorough legal analysis with clear, persuasive written and oral advocacy, helping clients navigate the distinct demands of appellate litigation.
-
I assist clients in challenging administrative decisions that may be unreasonable, procedurally unfair, or otherwise unlawful. Judicial review provides an important means of ensuring that public decision-makers act within the bounds of their statutory authority and in accordance with the principles of administrative law.
I provide strategic advice on the merits of a proposed application, identify reviewable errors, and advocate for clients before the courts. Where appropriate, I assist with all aspects of the judicial review process, from assessing the decision and developing the legal grounds to preparing written submissions and appearing at the hearing.
-
I assist clients with applications to enforce letters rogatory (sometimes called letters of request) to obtain evidence from witnesses located in Canada for use in foreign proceedings. I act both for parties seeking to obtain Canadian discovery and those opposing applications for the production of evidence.
My practice includes advising on the requirements for obtaining and enforcing letters rogatory, responding to objections, commencing and responding to proceedings for production of evidence and advocating before Canadian courts about the appropriate scope and terms of examination and production.
-
I represent clients in a broad range of legal matters affecting 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. My practice includes litigation and advocacy involving equality rights, discrimination, Charter protections, privacy, HIV legal issues, sex work, access to gender-affirming care for trans youth and other issues concerning sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. I provide thoughtful, client-centred representation, working closely with clients to advance their claims and achieve practical, meaningful outcomes.

I assist individuals, businesses, organizations, and public bodies with matters arising under access to information and privacy legislation. My practice includes initiating and responding to access to information requests, representing clients in inquiries before the Privacy Commissioners, and seeking judicial review of privacy-related decisions. I also advise and represent clients in litigation arising from the unauthorized collection, use, disclosure, or breach of personal information, including tort claims involving invasions of privacy.
